CIVIC/VOTING INFORMATION

Voting is a fundamental process in a democratic system. It is a chance for the citizens to have a say in the people who represent them or an issue that impacts them.

First, an eligible citizen registers to vote, studies the candidates and issues, looks up their polling location, then casts their ballot during the election. Informed voting and participating in elections is one of the responsibilities of citizens of the United States.

Newport News e-Portal

This portal is the home for information from the Newport News City Council, Citizen Advisory Boards, Commissions and Committees.

This tool is accessible to all citizens and provides information to people as easily as possible. Through Newport News eMeetings Portal you will be able to subscribe to meeting updates, search documents (such as meeting minutes) and even find out when the next meeting is scheduled.

Meetings are transmitted on the City cable television channels (Cox Cable 48, Verizon Cable 19), the City's Facebook page and on the NNTV Web Site. A Public Comment Form has been created for citizen comments or questions to be included as Public Comments on an Agenda for an upcoming Newport News City Council Meeting.
